author and graphic artist elissa stein is one of nyc’s finest. her latest book flow has gained a lot of attention and rave reviews since its release. it’s no wonder she’s someone to watch and of course read.
beepbeephello recently asked elissa 10 random questions…

what’s a typical day like for you? Here’s 1/25, which gives a sense of my usual juggle: got everyone off to school. Had a meeting to design an invite for a NYC public school media event. Blogged. Yoga. Supermarket. Laundry. Designed yoga studio promos. Did interview with a local newspaper for a FLOW article. Kids back: homework, dinner, reading, bed with online puppy search thrown in. Twitter, FB, Skype scattered throughout.
your recent book “flow” has gotten a lot of positive attention and more so it seems from men. does that surprise you?I’m both surprised and delighted. Many men have told me they’ve never had the chance to ask questions before and FLOW is an inside look at something they all indirectly deal with in some way.
tea or coffee?Iced decaf with half and half and double the Splenda—it’s like drinking dessert.
your favourite movie of all time?Sixteen Candles with Strictly Ballroom a close second.
what’s one thing you couldn’t live without?Aquaphor—my lips are always borderline chapped.
according to your website you’re working on a new book project “wrinkle”. can you tell us a little bit about it?WRINKLE looks at how we’ve collectively gotten to this place where aging is considered evil and why we spend billions of dollars and endless energy trying to avoid the inevitable.
if you weren’t living in new york city where else would you be?Honestly, I can’t imagine being anywhere else than NYC. Unless it was a fabulous beach. But, I’d always need a city fix.
you’ve worked with others on a few book projects over the years. is there anyone you’d love to eventually work with?To be honest, no. Collaborations can be great, but they can be a crutch. Right now I’m focusing on doing it all myself. We’ll see how that goes.
describe the perfect outfit you like to wear?Jeans. Funky t-shirt. One of my many vintage coats and an appropriate matching scarf. Sunglasses and a matte metallic silver bag.
have you set any goals for yourself for 2010?To finish my first children’s book—I’ve never written fiction before. To get out a proposal for WRINKLE.  And to be able to do headstands in the middle of a room without panicking.
